The Good News (and it’s BIG!)

After a full year of searching, we FINALLY found a new home for Pet Food Bank Lakeside! Our reach continues to grow, and 2025 was especially impactful

For the past two years, we’ve been operating out of a shared garage and a much smaller space. And while our volunteers are miracle workers, juggling incoming food orders, repacking, staging, and pickups while moving over 3,300 pounds of pet food every single month was becoming a serious logistical puzzle. A generous member of the local pet advocacy community, with a truly big heart, stepped forward and offered us a larger space, free of charge. This is a tremendous blessing. Our new location allows us to work smarter (fingers crossed), move food more efficiently, and welcome additional volunteers. It’s already proving to be a fantastic fit.

Who We Served
Our reach continues to grow, and 2025 was especially impactful:

Expanded Distribution

Through FoodBank Lakeside, we began sending pet food to additional communities now included in their dispensa program: San Juan Tecomatlán, Ojo de Agua, and Tlachichilco. We’re also seeing more families added within communities already being served.

Ongoing Community Support

We continue providing pet food in Mezcal and San Pedro Itzicán through our partnerships with CreSer and Poco a Poco.

Spay & Neuter Clinic Support

We supported Tails of Mexico’s clinic in San Nicolás, providing food for every dog and cat who came through the clinic, along with pet care handouts.

Emergency & Special Situations

We’ve received more calls this year involving large groups of dogs and cats in urgent need. While our primary focus is family pets, we made exceptions to help bridge these situations. Providing food during these critical moments helped keep vulnerable animals fed and safe.

Education Matters

This past summer, we provided basic pet care instruction to children and adults in San Pedro Itzicán, with over 70 people in attendance.

Individual Calls for Help

We also stepped up to assist several individual families who reached out when their pets needed help.

To our monthly donors, occasional donors, and longtime supporters: THANK YOU!

We work hard to keep our costs as low as possible. We recycle plastic bags, repurpose large food bags as delivery totes, and operate out of donated space. We are powered entirely by volunteers, with the exception of one wonderful young man who helps with heavy lifting during repacking days. He is compensated for his work, often directly by our volunteers.

Your generosity stretches far because you trust us to be careful, practical, and always focused on the animals.

Looking Ahead to 2026

We’re entering 2026 with a fresh start and renewed energy in our new location. If you’d like to volunteer with us for monthly food repacking, please email: admin@petfoodbanklakeside.com Financial donations can be made through our usual channels [www.petfoodbanklakeside.com/donate] and are always deeply appreciated.

Thank you for being part of the quiet solution. You may not hear the bark or purr—but trust us, it’s there. And it’s full of gratitude.
